Introduction
On their own, neither of the Lords’ Alliance Agent feat’s features is especially good. If you throw this onto a character with no other thought, this feat is objectively bad. But there are some fantastic combinations which will get you a ton of mileage out of one or both features.
Lords’ Alliance Agent is available from the Lords’ Alliance Vassal. The background’s ability scores are perfect for Strength-based martials and for Paladins, but they’re definitely a better fit for Fighters and Paladins than anything else. Fighters with a splash of Charisma (Battle Master and Banneret) and Paladins do especially well with the granted skill proficiencies.
Inspiring Strike
This will feel very cool when it happens, but critical hits are a rarity, so don’t count on this being useful unless you’re built to fish for crits.
Champion Fighters will get the most benefit here. Improved Critical and reliable access to Advantage with a Vex weapon will make crits decently common. Consider building around two-weapon fighting to maximize your number of attacks and therefore your opportunities to score critical hits. You can trigger this benefit an unlimited number of times, so a character built to capitalize on this can provide a steady stream of Heroic Advantage to their party.
Reassert Honor
Very helpful if you’re a martial character and you’re planning to spend a lot of time standing next to less durable allies.
This combines very well with the Interception Fighting Style, allowing you to mitigate incoming damage to your adjacent allies as a Reaction, but still allowing them to be hit so that you can get the benefit.
If you combine this with the Sentinel feat’s Guardian feature, an enemy within 5 feet of you hits an ally also within 5 feet of you, then you get to make an Opportunity Attack with Advantage against the enemy, reducing their speed to 0 on a hit. If you have a Push weapon, you can push them 10 feet away, likely putting them out of reach of you and your ally, thereby preventing them from hitting with any remaining attacks. Or if you’re a Rogue, this is an easy way to get Sneak Attack outside of your turn.
