Vampire Magic
Spider Climb is a decent spell, especially if you don’t have access to flight, but you’re here for the Enchantment/Illusion spell.
- : If you want to deal with animals, get Ritual Caster and cast Speak with Animals.
- : Not useful often enough to justify.
- : A fantastic buff, but as you gain levels you’re unlikely to commit Concentration to it.
- : Only situationally useful, and it’s already on a ton of spell lists.
- : Awful.
- : Powerful, versatile, and upcasting to add more targets is great.
- : Most characters don’t have access to any sort of taunt mechanic. Gish builds, especially durable ones like Eldritch Knights, may get a lot of value out of this.
- : Only situationally useful. Very few games can justify investing a feat to get this spell.
- : Break grapples and force the target to trigger Opportunity Attacks. The damage is weak, and there’s no reason to upcast it, but it’s still decent.
- : Too situational.
- : A decent buff, but as you gain levels you’re unlikely to commit Concentration to it.
- : Potentially great for martial characters that make numerous attacks. Also remember that it imposes Disadvantage on Ability Checks for one Ability of your choice, so you can use this to debuff Wisdom so that your target is bad at Perception.
- : Too situational.
- Silent Image: Very useful, but you can also take the Eldritch Adept feat to get Misty Visions, which lets you cast Silent Image at will without a spell slot.
- Silvery Barbs: Insanely powerful.
- : An incredible save-or-suck spell at any level.
- : Sleep is an easier save-or-suck because your target(s) only get one additional save instead of one every round. But this is also better at targeting multiple creatures, which may be worthwhile.
