New Tool – Cult Generator

Randall’s coverage of Mörk Borg got me excited. Mork Borg Cult: Heretic opens with “Seeds of a Cult”, which is a fun little random generator that fits right into the setting. Inspired by that idea, I built a generator for cults that should feel at home in just about any dungeon fantasy game (DnD, Mörk Borg, Pathfinder, etc.).

If you’re looking for a group of antagonists for your party, a home your warlock, or just to add some local flavor to your setting, check it out. It can generate a few quadrillion variations (yes, quadrillion), so it should keep you busy for a while.

Some of them will be exciting and villainous like “Curse of Dark Thrones” which might have commandments like “Collect skulls. The more the better.” Some of them will be benign like “Reach for Peace”, which is led by a “kindly elder with eyes that seem to glow with a soft light” and hates violence. You might also get the occasional absurd combination like “Sisterhood of Sisterhood”.

Results will vary, as currently this thing spits out well over 80 quadrillion variations (no, I didn’t make that number up). If you ever see the same result twice in a single human lifetime, you have defied probability so much that a cult might start worshiping you.

If you end up with an especially exciting cult, share a screenshot and tag RPGBOT on social media. I want to see what people get and what you’re going to do with it.
