Years ago, back when RPGBOT still used a logo that I made in MS Paint, I learned how to write character optimization guides by reading Treantmonk‘s work. The 4-tier rating system which we use on RPGBOT.net is taken directly from Treantmonk’s articles (he’s told me that he’s fine with it). But, those old articles basically only exist in Google Docs, which makes them awfully hard to find. Many were completely lost when the official WotC forums shut down about a decade ago.
So we’re trying a little experiment: With Treantmonk’s permission, I’m hosting a some of his DnD 3.5 and PF1 articles on RPGBOT. The articles have been proofread and formatting has been cleaned up, but the advice and opinion is all exactly the same.
If you want to see more, let me know! If you somehow have a way to track down Treantmonk’s lost content from those old forums, please email me. I tried, but my sleuthing didn’t get me very far.
Also, go check out Cthulhu by Torchlight. Treantmonk worked on it, and that’s pretty awesome. I haven’t gotten to see it yet, so I can’t offer opinions, but it’s high on my list of must-see stuff for Gen Con this year.
