10 months and a whole ton of work later, the new site is finally ready. I announced the site to Patreon back in November of 2020, and then announced it more publicly back in June of this year, and I’ve been working on feedback from people like you ever since.
But it’s finally ready. On September 22nd, I’m going to switch to the new site and you’ll be able to reach the new version of RPGBOT right where it should be: RPGBOT.net.
If this is your first time hearing about this, don’t worry: Everything is going to be right where it was before. The URLs are all the same, and everything’s organized the same way. If you have bookmarks, they’ll still go to the same places. I want the transition to be as smooth as possible.
If you have any last-minute feedback or if you’ve found bugs, let me know as soon as possible so I can get them fixed.
Hobbit Day. Nice choice.
Sorry, first time seeing the new site. But I was wondering whether you think it is a good idea to add tabs for the different subclasses to the table of contents of the Subclass Breakdown pages? I usually come here when I want to decide between two distinct options rather than scrolling through the whole list.
New site is looking great though. Looking forward to the full integration.
I’ll try to work on that. The thing that generates my tables of contents doesn’t like the code that does the color/star ratings so I have to make them work together in a way that I can actually maintain.
congrats!!!
Congrats on the new site transition! Excited to see new articles from more contributing authors, but of course what keeps me coming back time and time again is to reference the incredible wealth of insightful 5E Class content. Your awesome articles have helped me immerse myself in the ins and outs of the game, as well as get familiar with building characters and preparing spells in smart ways.
I imagine the choice to use a larger font size for the body text of your pages on the new site was intentional, but wanted to note that the wide margins/sidebars of the page mean a larger font size really stretches out the length of individual items (e.g. spell commentary) and makes it harder to skim a bunch of stuff at once on smaller screens. Have you considered an asymmetrical layout with a smaller left margin/sidebar to counteract the larger font size? (And yes, I’m aware I can zoom out in my browser window but that’s a pain to do for just one website, and I find the larger font size with similarly tight line spacing to the original site a bit strange to read, regardless.) Figured I’d pass on my two cents, but will continue to return to this excellent resource regardless of how you choose to lay it out! Congrats again on the new site!
That’s great feedback, thank you! Are you on mobile or desktop? I’m finding the current font super comfortable on mobile, but I agree that it’s fairly large on desktop so the right solution may be to use slightly different font sizes depending on screens size.
Heyo, your menu is broken and doesn’t open at all on the mobile version. Phone is a Samsung S20 if it helps.
That’s odd. Could you please take a screenshot and email it to me? RPGBOT@RPGBOT.net
