Fizban’s Treasure of Dragons introduced a new monk subclass: The Way of the Ascendant Dragon. It originally appeared in an Unearthed Arcana article, and has seen some changes since the playtest version.
I’m actually very happy with the final version. I think that Way of the Ascendant Dragon does a great job of offering a subclass which is thematically and mechanically unique and fun to play, but not overwhelmingly strong compared to other subclasses. It still easily supplants Way of the Four Elements as the monk with the best AOE damage options, but the bar was on the floor there.
