Introduction The Alchemist’s subclasses (Research Fields) choose a specific type of alchemical item and make you an expert with that type of item. This allows you to create those items more efficiently (sometimes entirely for free) using Advanced Alchemy and Quick Alchemy, so expect to spend a lot of time using whatever favorite items you picked.
