the new horror subclasses Unearthed
0:01
Arcana gave us an updated version of the
0:04
grave domain cleric uh now the grave
0:07
domain cleric in 2014 their whole thing
0:10
was you know when it's time for things
0:12
to be dead it's time for them to be dead
0:14
and no one undead none of that um kind
0:16
of their signature feature was path to
0:19
the grave which gave one target
0:22
vulnerability to the next attack that
0:24
they suffered so it was a really great
0:27
combination for like if you had a rogue
0:29
in a party especially assassins like if
0:32
you could hit an enemy with one really
0:34
big attack especially a crit you could
0:36
do an insane amount of damage but it
0:38
relied pretty heavily on your allies and
0:40
it relied heavily on the makeup of your
0:42
party so it was kind of you know by
0:46
nature it was a little bit inconsistent
0:49
so the updated version of the subclass
0:51
is built to be much more consistent much
0:53
more reliable but it might be a little
0:56
bit less interesting uh path to the
0:58
grave no longer gives vulnerability to
1:01
an attack it's now disadvantage on all
1:03
of the targets saves for one round which
1:06
is fantastic as a spellcaster because it
1:08
means you can hit them with a big save
1:10
or suck like allied spellcasters allies
1:12
who have special abilities they can all
1:14
pile in on that target and it's going to
1:16
be more consistently useful regardless
1:18
of your party makeup and it you know as
1:21
it gets close to your turn you can
1:23
choose to end the effect early to deal
1:25
some extra damage um as a bonus on top
1:28
of an attack that hits that creature so
1:30
there is that still that damage boost
1:32
there but it's not as like crazy amazing
1:34
and abusable as it was the subclass
1:37
feature that let you turn critical hits
1:40
into regular hits has also been replaced
1:42
now instead of that it's a few times per
1:44
day you can reduce some incoming damage
1:47
on an attack so um the old version was
1:51
only useful if your allies got crits so
1:53
it's entirely possible that it would
1:55
just never matter which is frustrating
1:57
like it's great that it was there but
1:59
it's not reliable the new version will
2:02
be more consistently useful again less
2:04
exciting but it'll be much more
2:06
consistent
